π Frankfurt Minecraft Server Migrations
Hello! This page serves as a home for information regarding our migration from Frankfurt to Amsterdam for our Minecraft Hosting Services. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
β Why is PloxHost Migrating?β
Our most obvious answer to this question is that we strive to offer the best experience to our customers. PloxHost strives to offer the most affordable, reliable, and simple hosting experience on the market. We are able to do so with the help of our owned hardware in all 3 of our locations.
The energy crisis in the EU is what ultimately led us to complete this migration. PloxHost has been considering a datacenter move for a few years now, as we have grown tremendously in Frankfurt. Continuing to grow in our current datacenter would not allow us to offer our three values that we take to heart: affordability, reliability, and simple hosting.
PloxHost is completing our move to Amsterdam from Frankfurt to offer an even better experience to our customers, at our incredible prices.
So, what's the difference?β
The most major difference is location. We are about a 350 mile difference in our move, still located in the Europe. Our current Frankfurt datacenter is located in Frankfurt, new in Amsterdam.
We have calculated the latency difference to be very minimal/none at all. This means that your players will not notice a big difference on latency.
With this move, we have upgraded all of our hardware to DDR4 standard and more powerful CPUs. For more information, see "Hardware Upgrades".
Our DDOS Protection is also being upgraded to Path.net.
What is being migrated?β
We are migrating all of our Budget Minecraft Hosting servers located in Frankfurt, Germany to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. We will not be migrating our Extreme Minecraft Hosting customers.
What is the current timeline?β
Our current timeline for migrations are spread over a few months. For more details, please see below regarding our migration plan. You will be ultimately notified via email on your timeframe, and when to expect the small amount of downtime.
π What should I expect?β
Great question. You should expect a few things when it is your time for migration.
- Your servers IP address will change.
What does this mean? It means that you will need to update your DNS record (if applicable) for your domain name. You will be notified 24 hours in advanced of your new IP address. Any extra allocations that are used (Votifier, Dynmap, etc.) will need to be updated.
If you currently have a PloxHost subdomain set (plox.best, plox.vip, etc.) your DNS record will automatically update. No need for any change!
Your server files will remain the exact same.
Your servers hardware will be upgraded.
Your server will be offline for about 5 - 15 mins.
