🛠️ Configuring IPv6 on your Dedicated / Colocation Server
This guide will walk you through setting up IPv6 Networking on your Server
By default, if you are using the Automated Installer, IPV6 will already be setup.
Network Information
PloxHost assigns a private VLAN to each server. Custom VLAN configurations are available for customers with multiple servers, this allows for IPs to be shared between servers. Servers are assigned by default an IPv6 /64 prefix, but more can be purchased.
Layout of IPv6 Subnet
Below is a sample subnet you may receive from us.
IPv6 Subnet: 2602:ffc5:500:2::/64
Gateway | Subnet Mask | Primary IP | Number of IPv6 Addresses |
---|---|---|---|
2602:ffc5:500:2::1 | /64 | 2602:ffc5:500:2::2 | 264 |
note
The above prefix is a /64 which is assigned by default. Your prefix will be different then this example, but you are able to follow the same principal.
A few notes
- Your servers gateway is 1 IP above your subnet IP, or 1 IP below your primary IP.
- Your primary IP can be viewed on the Dedicated Control Panel under the IP Management tab.
